A Message from our Communications and Marketing Department

Please know that Springside Chestnut Hill Academy places tremendous value in our communication between home and school. The primary method of sharing information with parents about important events and programs is our weekly Virtual Mailbag (VMB). Please be sure to refer to this electronic newsletter, sent on Friday afternoons, for all-school information (found on the landing page) as well as information specific to your daughter's grade level and slideshows of school life (found on the Lower School page).

Japanese Gardens - Items Needed

This week we have continued our study of Japan.  We've been taking lots of notes on the book This Place is Crowded.  Japanese school children take off their shoes and replace them with slippers upon entering the classroom.  For an authentic learning experience, please allow your daughter to bring in slippers or flip-flops to wear during Social Studies class.

Also during this unit we would like to have the class make individual Japanese Gardens.
I will gladly accept donations of the following:
#1.  Medium zip lock bag of small rocks/stones/gravel.
#2.  Medium zip lock bag of potting soil.
#3.  Tiny figurines of animals (especially fish), pottery, jewels, accents, bridges, lanterns, etc...
#4.  fake flowers
#5.  Medium zip lock baggie of sand.
#6.  Plant Pot Saucers- any color & any size (pictured below - size of a dinner plate).
#7.  Small gardening tools
Please do not go out and purchase items.  If you happen to be spring cleaning and come across these items, send them in!  We will be collecting additional items in the woods but this will help us get started.  Thank you!
Do you have0005655410558_P255045_180X180.jpg any of these collecting spider webs in your garage?
If so, we'll take them!! (the saucers, not the spiders)
