A Message from our Communications and Marketing Department

Please know that Springside Chestnut Hill Academy places tremendous value in our communication between home and school. The primary method of sharing information with parents about important events and programs is our weekly Virtual Mailbag (VMB). Please be sure to refer to this electronic newsletter, sent on Friday afternoons, for all-school information (found on the landing page) as well as information specific to your daughter's grade level and slideshows of school life (found on the Lower School page).

SUPERHERO DAY - Thursday, February 11th

Dear Fellow Parents,

Superheroes never fight alone!

We invite your children to dress as their favorite superhero on Thursday, February 11th.

One of our second grade heroes, Ayana Banks, will be heading to NYC for continued medical treatments to combat cancer. We would like to send her off with a little something extra. By dressing the part, let’s remind Ayana that her heroes, her classmates and friends at SCH, are here for her and always willing to share their super powers.

A charitable foundation, Ayana’s Amazing Grace, has been formed to accept donations in support of children undergoing cancer treatments. The foundation is dedicated to Ayana's strong desire to help find a cure for Neuroblastoma and other rare forms of childhood cancer. Funds are used to improve the quality of life for children and their families during treatment by providing the following: offering financial assistance, educating families, supporting training and research development to find a cure, promoting public awareness and advocacy, reducing the serious side effects of cancer treatment, and providing treatments that facilitate an overall increased quality of life.

A message from "Super Hero Mom", Ayana Banks:
Our family has been fighting for almost 2 years now. What I do know is that Kids can and do beat this!! Ayana is self-motivated and always finds a way to smile as she fights. I will tell you that everyone knows that she loves school (SCH) and her friends. She does not hesitate to tell you that all she wants to do is to live and go to school. I am overjoyed and thrilled with the awesome level of support for our journey. Ayana loves the entire SCH community and TA. We see her spirit fill with joy as we drive closer to the school each day. We are firm believers that Love heals. Ayana's Super Hero Day warms our hearts. I know she will be so appreciative of the sincere consideration as evidenced with her trade mark smile. This gesture is the perfect "send off" as we prepare for scans and a suggested treatment plan, to slay the dragon once and for all!

Nobody Fights Alone!!! We are forever grateful for your unconditional love and support!
Yolanda Banks
