Making Ice Cream in Science! March 2, 2011

Second graders have been exploring the world of secret formulas, following directions to concoct their versions of toothpaste and cola in Science class. The unit concluded with a chance to make their own ice cream! Choosing the flavoring, testing for the right note of sweetness, making certain all was mixed together, recording their recipe, pouring the rock salt to aid the freezing process all led up to the crucial step of girls working together to shake their bags, which helped transform the liquid formula to the solid ice cream. The members of the second grade class gathered to test the delicious results of their labors.
