Last year, students at the Springside School graciously collected previously-enjoyed Halloween costumes for children who may not have had the opportunity to purchase a new one. Thanks to the assistance of students at your school, 2,036 costumes were collected and distributed to children served by the Greater Norristown Police Athletic League.
In 2010, now 12-year-old Emma Rose Shapiro, the founder of The Halloween Helpers, is ready to collect costumes again. However, unlike last year, Emma’s efforts will be more “grass roots.” Instead of holding a massive collection and distribution, all of the costumes collected will be distributed to the 500+ students of the John Wister Elementary School in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. We are also in talks with an elementary school in Norristown, PA, to hold a costume distribution event there, too.
To that end, we will not need to hold the huge costume collections we did in 2009. We are only asking a few schools and businesses that held successful drives in 2009 to help with this year’s efforts.
Can Emma Rose count on Springside School students to hold a 2010 costume drive?
By saying “YES”... Springside School students will enable other children in our community to participate in the greatly-anticipated annual celebration of Halloween!
