Please know that Springside Chestnut Hill Academy places tremendous value in our communication between home and school. The primary method of sharing information with parents about important events and programs is our weekly Virtual Mailbag (VMB). Please be sure to refer to this electronic newsletter, sent on Friday afternoons, for all-school information (found on the landing page) as well as information specific to your daughter's grade level and slideshows of school life (found on the Lower School page).

Math in Second Grade

Charles Grogan, our wonderful Math Coordinator, has created a web page with information about the fact tests for grades 2-4, and practice tests!  Here's the link:  https://www.springside.org/home/content.asp?id=6676


If you feel your child needs more support this web page has more practice tests.  The best solution would be to have regular practice at home (like reading at home each evening).

I have also printed out additional math fact triangles (in homework folders tonight) in case you would like to help your daughter practice their math fact skills at home using these cards.  Let me know if you have any questions!

Pictured below is the math work that we did today.  We worked in teams with our math partners to build structures using Cuisenaire cubes, rods, and flats.  Then we determined how much the structure was worth.  It was a good challenge and girls had to practice listening, contributing, and working together collaboratively.  Lenny had the great idea of using her calculator to add up the values.  Great job, girls!
